People are Talking

MOVEMENT, MUSIC, INTENTION, CURIOSITY AND DELIGHT

Cultivating Kindness in the Body and Mind through Movement

  • "If he had been a student in Theresa's class, Socrates would have said 'The unexamined movement is not worth moving'."

    Alok S., Movement Training student

  • "Regular attendance in Theresa's movement class helps moderate my Parkinson's symptoms...I come away relaxed and refreshed with every session.!"

R.Z. , Palo Alto Movement student

  • "By the end of  the week my body has contracted; stress and cares have taken over.  It's time for Theresa's Rosen Movement class!  Gentle, gentle motions of the body set to great music and group laughs, yawns, community spirit.  I am restored."

    Z.B., San Francisco Movement student

  • "Weekly movement classes keep me moving with ease and joy.  I highly recommend it."

H.K. , San Francisco Movement student

  • "I go to Rosen Movement because I always feel better at the end of class. The L’s – learning, laughter, lightness of being.  A safe and compassionate place to explore my lightness (and heaviness) of  being – body, mind, and spirit.

Rosen Movement class keeps me present to the now, to how I’m moving, to what I’m feeling."

    Z.S.,  Palo Alto Movement  student

I asked students to complete the sentence:  "Rosen Method Movement is like ___ because ____,but different because ___. "  Here's what they said:

  • C from FB: RMM is like a gentle and fun filled exercise class yet it is different because it takes us deep into the places we hold ourselves back.
  • S in PA:  Rosen Movement is like an exercise class because you move your body in healthy ways, but different because at the end you feel peaceful and relaxed.
  • J in PA:  Rosen Method Movement is like therapy for the body because you learn to notice and release tension but different because you move to the music and have fun.
  • C from FB:  RMM is like a dance class because the teacher guides you through movements to music-but it is different because by the end of class you are breathing more freely and are more clear and connected to the still point within you."
  • F from FB:  Rosen Method Movement is fun like circle games in school, because it is light and playful, but it is not competitive and anyone can play.
  • Z in SF: Rosen movement is like yoga because it stretches the body to release energy knots, but it is different because the emphasis is on ease, not effort.  It is different because of the group holding and awareness of others unlike yoga which is very individually focused. In yoga, you are with others but not to feel that   relational  container. We are all so isolated, I think  a feeling of group is vital to our well being.  I think Rosen is non judgmental more than other methods of body movement.  There is more  humor,  no shaming, more room to move without critical  emphasis.!
  • E from FB:  RMM is like water because it flows and relaxes, can be fast or slow but different because it is also about connection with other people.
